Fans of Nicki Minaj woke up to a shock this week as the rapper announced she is cancelling her highly anticipated new album. The news came through a series of passionate posts on X (formerly Twitter) where the 42-year-old superstar openly called out rapper Jay-Z and other unnamed industry figures.

Nicki had initially planned to release her sixth studio album in March 2026, sparking excitement among her loyal fanbase, the Barbz. But in a blunt message to her followers, she wrote, “Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now @sc. Bye, Barbz. Love you for life.”

“They know how successful my next album is going to be,” she wrote, explaining that attempts had been made to manipulate or control her career. “Fuming because they can’t siphon anymore energy, money, blessings, love, grace, joy, PEACE… the culture.”

The rapper didn’t hold back in tagging Jay-Z directly, referencing reports about his ambitions to open a casino in New York City’s Times Square despite facing backlash. Nicki painted a picture of the industry seeking her help for tours and albums, only to be denied by the “Queen.”

She wrote, “They came BEGGING the QUEEN for a tour (and) album and I said NOPE!!!!! LMFAO… just like the casinooooooooooooooooooo. @sc.”

Nicki also took to a live Space broadcast on X to clarify her stance. She insisted she remains in full control of her career, declaring that she is “the conductor of this train”.

Her message was clear: she will release music on her own terms, and no external pressures will dictate her path.
